If you want to learn the A-Z of bicycle mechanics, this is the course for you. Many of our mechanics have taken similar courses to this including our Head Mechanic John who did his training in England in 2014 and one of our senior mechanics, Ken, who travelled to Toronto, several years ago, to do a similar advanced mechanic course. This is the only course of its kind in Ottawa (that we know of). The course is broken down into 10 one-day modules - Module 1 Foundations and Derailleur Systems - Module 2 Chains, Cassettes and Hubs - Module 3 Brakes - Module 4 Headsets, Bottom Brackets and Cranks - Module 5 Bike Builds and Cabling. Day 5 includes an end of week test. - Module 6 Hydraulic Systems - Module 7 Wheel Building - Module 8 Frame Tools and Extraction methods - Module 9 Suspension Systems - Module 10 Service Operations and Small Business Models This course is delivered at K2O School of Bicycle Mechanics by our Head Mechanic, John, at 175 Helen Rapp Way (search on Google Maps for K2O School of Bicycle Mechanics). The K2O School of Mechanics workshop is a professional grade workshop, specifically designed for the delivery of bicycle mechanic training. It provides students with the perfect learning environment. Wheel building is one of the few things that a human (a skilled human) can still do better than a machine. If you've ever considered building your own wheels for your bicycle, or as part of a custom build of a complete bicycle, then this course will provide you with the knowledge to do this.
